Default Car is in Port - They putting a hold on it with a 3 Month Delay!!!

Just learned that my new Defender is in port and was to be delivered Friday will now be held until October!!! They are holding all blackened tail light vehicles as well as holding on another issue with infotainment system. Does anyone have info on this? LR, please put a diode on the LED tail lights and give me my damm car! Unbelievable…

A diode won't fix it I'm afraid. Given that the light assembly is sealed tight, it's not possible to get to the PC board inside without destroying the polycarbonate enclosure. They are not meant to be serviceable like a traditional incandescent light assembly--they are meant to last the lifetime of the car. It will be a complete replacement of both light clusters. It's probably the cheapest thing to do anyway. I think the delay is in producing new units that don't have the problem--plus the labor costs and time associated with this kind of job.

I don't know where they store these cars but hopefully they are all covered, given they will be parked through to the fall.

How do I know if I ordered blackened tail lights? Mine is sitting at port waiting to be placed on a ship.

All X models have them - Land Rover calls it 'Darkened Tail Lights' on their site. In reality they are just clear lenses and the other models have red lenses.

Do you were expecting darkened tail lights but got regular instead?
