I am more shocked that people are taking their expensive cars to the automatic car wash. I get that some may not have space but if you do it’s such an easy car to wash. Foam cannon, let soak. Then two bucket method with ONR. Followed by leaf blower and then towel. I think I can get it done in about 20 minutes.

^^^ LOL, only a car-wash nerd (like me!) would list that number of steps and say it’s so easy. As a guy with a permanent compressor/cannon setup myself, I quit using it because it’s just a minor pain in the *** that only costs time, doesn’t save it, because after spraying the car with the cannon (which takes time to fill with suds and use), you still have to do EVERY SINGLE STEP you would do without the cannon, i.e. completely wash the car with two buckets and whatever sponge/furry-mitt/etc. one chooses. If you don’t do this, just the foam followed by a rinse doesn’t clean the car at all. Sure, you can argue that the cannon-plus-mitt does a “safer” job on your paint by loosening/lubricating the dirt before you ever touch it with a mitt, but it sure doesn’t make the job easier.

Happy to leave the cannon hanging on the wall next to my wash roller cart.

Cheers!

It's just a car.

Ok, well when it's 20 degrees outside and you're snowblowing your driveway just to get to work on time you'll get it.

I get it when time and space are an issue. 🙂 It’s time to myself listening to music in the comfort of a heated/cooled garage for me and an enjoyable task.

Default I made an account just to concur with this thread. JLR, fix this!

In all the other cars that I have owned, including our other Range Rover and a Disco Sport, I can simply apply the brake and shift from neutral to drive. In the Defender, however, the vehicle will not shift from neutral to drive even while applying the brake. I have to put the vehicle in park, and then into drive, which, needless to say, does not make the car wash conveyor, nor the person behind me happy. Curious if anyone has figured out a workaround to smoothly transition from neutral to drive while avoiding park?
This is legitimately so dangerous, and has now happened to me 3x. The third time today, a car almost rear-ended me at the car wash. This is all after telling the hood-spray guy to hold the car behind me back a bit, and I still almost caused a pile up upon exit. I’m in a 2024 110, I see this mentioned in 2020. How is this issue still ongoing?

I have a 2022 110 and this is not an issue for me. I barely put my foot on the break and shift from neutral to drive seamlessly. You shouldnt have to put it in park unless you don't put your foot on the brake lightly?

Came across this in the online owner’s manual. Not exactly sure how it fits into the conversation, but find it interesting that Neutral is mentioned with regards to conveying through a car wash. The manual doesn’t seem to acknowledge what to do at the end of the car wash, though.
