Default Carplay Wireless and Wired Both Flaky

Searched for quite a while, but looking for guidance on CarPlay.
At first it worked well wirelessly. Then that started not reconnecting reliably when starting and stopping the car while running errands. Then I started connecting via the USB C via port below the shifter. Less convenient than wireless connecting. Now even wired isn’t 100% reliable. Have disconnected phone and repaired several times. Still very flaky.
What have you found to work to resolve these connectivity issues? Does connecting wired make the wireless connection never work?
Also I have read about connecting to the cars wifi which I also tried but didn’t help. What’s the deal with the wifi?
Just trying to get my tunes going without having to think about it.
Thanks all.

Don't feel bad. My CarPlay connection is moody when I run errands as well. I have noticed a pattern of places where it just does not reconnect, like the Post Office for example. I think the system is getting interference at these locations. What fascinates me is that it will not reconnect when I drive away from these spots unless I manually select CarPlay. I also get it to drop the connection at the same places and go to the very annoying mute mode. There is a pattern to that as well.

I also try plugging it in and it is mostly ok. It too has its issues, but no particular pattern to that. It is far more reliable, but 1 out of 10 tries it has some kind of problem, like randomly pausing play.

I have no solution. I just accept it, like PC's back in the days of yore. You just had to restart them a couple of times a day and you found that totally normal.

I am sure you have already done this, but just in case…… have you set you phone as the default phone and selected the connect at start up option?

Not a bad suggestion, but I have tried this as well to no avail. Yes on initial it works tickety boo, it is the certain spots that it does not for me. To add to its moody nature, my wife's Evoque, which has CarPlay as well. About 50% of the time, should I be on the phone in the house and she starts up and drives off. It captures my phone, regardless of the fact her's is primary for her car. Aside from its moody aspects, it is still better than the alternatives. Kind of like having another cat around.

Rejoined the car's WIFI (LRXXXX) and now wireless CarPlay hooks up more consistently. Thanks for all the input everyone.

Mine randomly disconnects and reconnects during calls, kind of annoying.

100% it is across all makes, this is not Land Rover specific. I've had four different makes from US made to European with CarPlay and in all cases the connection interface is buggy, This is going over a number of years and probably three or four different iPhones. I've rented Japanese cars on trips and the same connection issues occur, so In my opinion it is either flawed software from Apple as it is both a wireless and hardwired issue or every manufacturer is using the very same components that receive the signal wirelessly and hardwired (which I doubt).

Gotta say, I find that CarPlay almost universally is flakey to me. Every vehicle I own or rent gets sketchy at times. The only one that works reliably is when I'm driving my 2011 beater truck with an iPhone bracket mounted on the dash. Then again, the native iOS isn't really CarPlay....

My Audi SQ7 MY21 CarPlay always failed to connect wirelessly but it worked fine with the wire. A TSB came out for the wireless, and I never had another issue. I've definitely had rentals that were buggy.

So far my Defender is almost flawless with wireless Carplay but I'm running an outdated software version (4.1.0 I believe it is). I'm afraid to update software because I religiously use voice text, voice navigation, and Spotify through CarPlay.
