I guess the location would be determined by the size of your CB. I originally fitted my Thunderpole short body into a spare cubby box that slotted into the centre console. It was east to undo and remove the cubby box when not needed, but It did limit my storage space (that I seem to need every inch of when off-road) 🥵

I’ve now mounted it to the SalTek Molle plate on the top of the dash (I’ll photograph it and send to you) which now gives me my centre cubby tray back, but I’m unsure how it’ll fare in the sun with the heat in it 🤔

I’ve also dropped a picture of the aerial mount plate that was fabricated for the roof rails, although I’ve now changed that position too, so that when not required it can be folded down. I’ll photograph that too and add later 😉

That molle plate is cool, not sure I want to do that, but I checked my center speaker area and will keep it in mind.
your set up is awesome though, I like the go pro and extra ball mount.

Thanks 🙏🏼

The Molle plate came from SalTek Motorsports in USA and is a direct replacement for the speaker cover, and I’ve kept the speaker grille to fit back on when I change the vehicle. It’s useful to mount my GoPro and iPad (for off-road maps) etc. 👍🏼

If I went the CB route, I would pick up the Midland M-5 (Link). It looks exactly like the popular Midland MXT-575/275 series (Link). You'll just have to get it on a UK version of Amazon or eBay. You can find many different threads about how people mount them. Others reposted above.

I mounted mine exactly like @umbertob did in his epic post (Link). You should go to that link. He goes into the details, great pics, yada yada yada. And no, it's not a link to Rick Astley. The only change I made with mine is that I am a woodworker and created a plate out of cherry that duplicates the rubber "mat" that he mounted his to. With a quick release, I can take it off/out. At one time, I almost purchased the M-5 on the deranged idea that I could reuse the antenna. Then I learned something and decided "Nope". Didn't want to run another wire thru the steering grommet.

Good luck! Post pics after.

Can I please ask where you got that microphone mount for the rail bar? I can't seem to find one on amazon and just end up storing the handheld in the tray.
Thanks.

Yes sure, it’s from Brodit, but I think it also has links to A-Tach too. Here’s the UK link……

Brodit

And this is the eBay link for the similar design A-Tach one……
