Clearing Snow off Roof Racks?
I know this note is very late to this thread - but as a misplaced Edmontonian (AB) now in CO I get the snow concern! In addition to the various fun and more serious suggestions above… It might - might - be possible to remove the horizontal cross rails between the full roof rack side frame (presuming the full roof rack is a need for other reasons as opposed to the easy on/off roof rack rails as previously posted by others). That might be an easy fix for the winter months - then just reinstall those cross rails after the long snow season ends.
Getting that snow off the roof really is a need in those crazy winter months (tickets aside), My wife will testify how I loose my religion here in CO when folks don’t sweep off their car roofs or remove ALL the snow from rear windows before hitting the roads/freeways! I’ve lost count of how my drivers just sweep off half , or less, of the rear window (I guess it’s just too much work to finish the job?)
I’m fortunate here in the greater Denver, CO area we don’t get a lot of snow. HOWEVER, when that wet and HEAVY spring snow comes it’s a bear - but it’s gone in about 72 hrs or less. Kinda reminds me of the snow storms that hit during my years in Vancouver, BC. I don’t miss shoveling Alberta snow - albeit light and fluffy - that was a mixed blessing due to volume!
