If you can afford a Defender, you can afford $10 a month. My daughter pays $10/month for a similar Mazda app subscription that allows her to remote start her CX-5. And she pays over $4 per gallon of premium gas since she knew when we bought the more powerful CX-5 turbo model that it requires the higher octane premium gas.

 

I don’t see any value in the app.

mine lapsed and I don’t miss it.

I never used the remote start and I couldn’t care less about seeing my journey log or having LR SOS support.

Others will no doubt see some value in it.

As apps go, it’s massively overpriced for what it offers. I’d not pay much if anything for it. $5 maybe. .

I expect GAP to figure a workaround much like it allows free WiFi for life in the vehicle.

 

my renewal is $160 for the next year (after one year free at initial buy). I don't know what else mine has for the $160/yr. vs. the $120 everyone else here seems to have? Maybe it's gone up for 2026? I'm likely to pay it as I like the connectivity to my phone. I think it is also paying for location tracking if someone were to steal my car, so that seems practical to have.
