Looks to me like cost cutting measures on the details such as lights, front lower bumper, etc. which is offset by investments being made in tech, some of which appears EU mandated.
More terrible changes:
- No “DEFENDER” script on vents anymore
- Weird screen thing on steering column
- No holes in plastic trim around fog light area
- Just flat plastic on bonnet now - no chequer plating
- Tailights
- Centre caps now say “DEFENDER” in small script
- Flat around gear selector
Fully agree! I'll never get used to the empty, huge square on the side, whose sole purpose was to showcase the Land Rover emblem. The new part-time-pattern on the bonnet is a bad joke too, isn't it? Since the introduction of this great car, every year it gets a little worse - a real pity!
I badly hope, that my MY24 will last a lifetime 🙏
cant see any difference from my 2025, 110. Maybe my old eyes. Also, wasnt the sceen in 2025, the same as the one newly announced? mine is the big square one.
No, the screen is bigger for MY26. 13.1" instead of the 11.4" unit on the 2025MY.

Interesting, but I've not once in either of my Defenders with the 11.4" unit did I think, "man I wish I had a bigger screen". Its honestly a perfect size.
Hopefully that spy camera will be disable-able in the US where its not required.
I actually really like that green more than the Pangea green. No offense to anyone that has Pangea green but ...It kind of looks like a color you dye an easter egg to me. This new green is bolder - still not as good as a deep hunter green.
I really do think that JLR needs to do something like Jeep does with the Rubicon or Ford does with the Sasquatch - and offer a real substantive (not just flashy fauxroader) offroad package that would take the Defender from the unfortunate mall crawler status in the pop culture to something that gets the needle moved. 18" beadlock-able wheels (regardless of engine type), steel bumpers, winch, sliders, rear AND front lockers and a RAI that isn't for show only, roof rack provided by someone like Rhino or Prinsu...
A man can dream.
totally agree about the green…. It should have been this one here…
“Stand out amongst the city crowds with the Defender Urban Bonnet Decal. Made from a durable self adhesive vinyl, the decal features a square motif pattern to compliment the vehicle's design.”
That must be why those things are in replacement of the chequer and the tailights are now flat. So the whole ‘square’ thing ties together.
All wheels also come with those black centre caps, which really clashes if they are, say, silver
