New to the forum and this space. I have been driving my Defender 110 (First Edition) since release and I absolutely love the drive still.
I've been riding no attachments or accessories whatsoever but have now decided I want add some stuff to keep my love strong.
I wanted to hear insight/feedback on what types of accessories you all would recommend and what issues (if any) have come from these.
I load stuff on my roof and went with a roof rails + cross bars set up. I did that as it was less expensive than a full roof rack. If money is no issue, a full roof rack could be a consideration, but ONLY if you have that type of need to load stuff. If you look at racks, be sure to ask folks that have them if the wind noise is increased by having it always up there? My cross bars are effectively nothing - just two lone pieces of metal. So there's no drag, no sound, no interference while I drive around. The full roof rack I see from LR looks great, but I do wonder if there is a wind noise that gets shuffled down to the cabin? I also wonder if the fuel efficiency may be a bit less, given a full roof rack would seem to distort the current aerodynamic nature up there. If you need to load items up there, consider lots of alternatives carefully
I have the factory roof rack and the answers to your questions are yes and yes. There is wind noise (mostly alleviated by a fairing I built and there are others available) and gas mileage is probably 1-2 mpg down compared to the same vehicle with no rack.

Anybody have any experience with Can Am Defender HD10 (82hp) or Limited? Good the bad and ugly? Seems like only UTV that has cabin space big enough for me and my size 15 5E boats. Just looking at them since they are worse than barrels to order. Maybe 6 months to get.

Riding in a Defender with a few can am defender accessories makes it a solid machine overall. The cab space really is generous — plenty of room for big guys, and gear fits without crowding. On the downside: parts wait times can be rough, especially wiring-harness or accessory bits.

The genuine roof rack platform can easily be removed, leaving the legs in place. It takes less than half an hour as long as the suspension is lowered, a step ladder is used and an electric drill/wrench is used to unscrew the two bolts on top of every leg, twelve in total for 110. Two people are needed to lift the actual platform on and off the mounts but it is not heavy.
