Defender 2023 stock tow ball replacement
#11
From my experience, sample size of one, I've had no issues whatsoever towing with a U-Haul brand hitch Mount and ball, 8 inch length three and a half inch drop (I do not use any of the towing features other than the towing camera view, which I find super useful). I normally tow an enclosed single axle 5x10 ft trailer with two motorcycles and 1,500 or so pounds of gear. No issues whatsoever. I also routinely carry a motorcycle on the back of the truck using a hitch hauler, so that's approximately 500lb sitting behind the spare tire, also no issues.

Anything with a hitch to pin of under 6.9" meets the design spec. There are any number of good options for that criteria at normal prices. Nothing fancy required. Just get one with the desired drop.
I use one with a 12" hitch to pin length to allow me to clear the spare wheel. It's a trade-off I'm willing to accept for what I tow. It's rare that I tow anything.
There are a few good thread covering all the options and solutions that folks use for towing. The JLR hitch is definitely not among them. A $35 hitch at some hilariously inflated price.
