This is a US-based forum, so most of the users on here are from the US. We don't get the diesels here, but based on responses on other forums and Facebook groups, the AJ300D 3.0 I6 Ingenium engines have been pretty solid. The 2.0 AJ200D I4 Ingenium diesels used only for the 2020MY have had lots of issues - not just in the Defender, but in other LR products and in the Jaguar XE, XF, and F-Pace. In fact, I was speaking with my service manager at my dealer not too long ago and he said that those 2.0 diesels that we got in the US in the F-Pace, XE and XF are seem to be the most problematic engine JLR has produced in years.

thanks for the reply. I'm asking for a friend. I do have my 110X here in the US and it's been pretty solid.

No. North American markets only get the AJ200 I4, AJ300 I6 MHEV, AJ133 V8, and the BMW-sourced N63TU3 4.4 V8 MHEV in the OCTA.

I drove the new diesel Defender two years ago for over 2500 miles during an expedition in Africa. The engine is great, and I wish we could get it in North America.

Default Deisel wanted

I did a test drive in New Zealand when I was on vacation and that 3L Deisel engine was impressive. Wish we could have it. I would order one right away.

Ingenium diesels have more issues than petrol, 3.0 is the least prone, 2.0 absolutely to avoid.
Timing chain, DPF, EGR issues, oil dilution and you name it.
