No winch -- I am very happy to see those of you awaiting one won't be impacted !

Only trouble is even I have to admit it looks almost too pretty to plug in the grinding wheel and start cutting away parts of its bumper for a post-purchase winch install !!

I can be on board with this since it is actually a limited run and has a plate to prove it. It also looks good. Why stop at $115,000 though? They should have made it $115,007.

So 10k higher than the non 007 v8 and its just a few 007 badges?

Interesting move land rover. They seem to be having trouble delivering V8's the most. I guess they know it will sell and its the highest profit margin yet.

Imo, how embarrassing to have someone sit in it and say, "oh, wow, this is fun, what are the special features of this 007 edition? It must have night vision like the new Escalade!!? Wait, no way, does this have night vision!!??"

Me, "uh, no, just badges, lots of badges"

Yes on second thought it's too tacky? Maybe if it has a gun case, cooled second row fridge for the champagne and faux gun turret?

Leaking oil on the car behind you could be a cool trick.

There isn't a person on the planet buying the new Defender because it is reliable or affordable or special. They are buying them because of the Defender name and because it sticks out like a sore thumb among the crowded SUV market. JLR knows this. The 007 limited run models will sell out in minutes and JLR laughs all the way to the bank, 1 because they just made a load of money on it without really doing anything and 2 they know the customer will be right back to their service department getting something repaired or glued back on within the month. Pure genius on their part.

There's not that much money in just 300 of these, when they would have sold every one they could make anyway and most of those would likely be be reasonably highly optioned without the 007 stuff. It's just a marketing tie in to the film, which probably cost JLR much more than they are making here. And to be fair, you can't say these aren't special on the one hand, and then on the other acknowledge that the Defender sticks out in the otherwise dull SUV market. No one really expects a JLR product to be that reliable, although my F Type, XJ, Range Rover and now my Defender have all been great, and as for affordable, what else checks all the boxes for less? For me, nothing. The Defender is the best overall LR/RR product currently on sale. Those of us who actually have one seem to quite like them.

I wouldn't say the Defender is the best overall LR product on sale. That spot still goes to the stunning RR and always will. The Defender certainly is the most noticeable of the LR lineup and that is why owners buy them, to be noticed. But they stand out in a Pontiac Aztek kind of way, you can't help but stare and think to yourself, what? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose. With that I digress.
