Default Defender Windshield

Took a hit from a rather substantial rock over the weekend.
Trying to locate Part # LR184685 and have been informed by glass shop and dealership that the part is back ordered 30-60 days and there are no other replacement glass available. Ouch.
If anyone has a lead on parts or suggestions let me know.

Jeez. That's quite a hit. What on earth was it?

Normally the windshield posts here are an inexplicable small crack from a gnat or something, this... is something.

Did you call safelite? They normally have them in stock.

Not sure what is was other than road debris from the truck that ran off the road in front of me, happened quick, it was probably was a small meteorite.

That sucks. I just got windshield No. 4 on my 2022 (counting the original). Took two weeks, installed it last Thursday. Thank God my insurance pays for them (with no deductible) or I’d be 5 grand into windshield replacement now at $1650 each.

took me 14 days to break my first windshield, going about 35 mph and hit a pebble from a subaru about 10 yards in front of me. My dealer told me they were on backorder so I haven't even replaced yet, but I have a high deductible (500) and not looking forward to paying it. Not off to a promising start.

Try safelite as I heard they are now carrying non oem windshields for the Defender. I am on my 4th windshield!

hi...add me to the spontaneous cracked windshield in Defender club...
I have 2023.5 Defender 110 X dynamic. It has only 10K miles on it. Haven't yet got it off road yet (i use my reliable 2013 LR2 for that!)...Yesterday, noted a large crack on passenger side. No rock or tree branch or even bad weather ..just cracked...
I'd appreciate the forum's advice :
1. I set up a Safelite appointment..they did good job on my son's Audi but will they be ok for the Defender 110 and its windshield specs?
2. Is this something the dealer should address as vehicle is just owned 8 months.
3. I'm in Massachusetts...my insurance seemed to cover previous windshield issues but again should I ask dealer to take care of it instead?
4. Anyone know if JLR has begun recall or some such since this appears to be a prevalent issue?
5. If not dealer repair/replace, any recommendation for service by other than Safelite?
Very much appreciate all the info on this forum and any help with this annoying issue..

Safelite should do a decent job, as I am sure they have done a lot of Defender windshields by now. Just make sure they calibrate all the items that are optioned on your car. JLR will not be doing a recall on windshields. If nothing hit your wondshield, do take it to the dealer and let them inspect it for a stress crack. If the dealership determines it to be a stress crack, they will likely cover it under warranty. Good luck.
