For just beautiful, fun off-road driving with few challenges in the area have you done all the network of trails beyond Onion Creek? The creek itself, of course, is spectacular, but after you ascend at the end, where most folks turn around, it opens up on a broad plateau with a lot of trails, one of which actually connects to the Rose Garden Hill trail.
Totally, I love the route of onion creek into Fischer valley (which is stunning) through hideout canyon then up polar mesa. Then either down into castle valley (which is both beautiful and crisscrossed with unnamed 4x4 tracks) or take a left onto La Sal Loop Rd.

In castle valley there is Round Mountain which is a rocky monolith that sticks up about 1000 feet above the valley floor. There is a 4x4 track that goes from the road straight down on the east side of the mountain. There is no parking area because there is no trail up, but the 360 views of are amazing with the la sals, porcupine rim, castle valley, adobe mesa, and castle tower all right there.

Beautiful! I have not been on that point you’ve taken the video from. I’ll check it out next time I’m there. I sure hope Castle Valley doesn’t experience the same kind of growth Moab has in the last 20 years. It’s still a pretty wonderful place.

Love it ! Simply epic. Great stuff.

Lucky that the Defender comes with a parking sensor, alerting you to the drop off ahead.

Mt. Rainier out to greet us this morning.

*Steelie and sidewall envy intensifies

A short but wonderful camping trip. First one in the Defender.

Rack with the Thule box and the rear platform were great.

Here are some pictures of a recent trip around Zimbabwe a few weeks ago. A series of youtube videos to be released soon. No prizes for spotting the elephant and hippo I have since changed to an IKamper 3.0

Hope you enjoy:

Did you stop and say hi to Tom and Kobe the 150# tortoise at Base Camp Lodge at the bottom?

Nice setup, @DefXBill . What lift/tires/rods you have there? That's a good setup. I think the 90's look better lifted like that. Can you also describe your lights? Those look larger than 9".
