mammoth is correct, this is Trona Pinnacles near Death Valley. I loved the scenery, very un-earthly.. feels like you're on a different planet. Also, there was absolutely no one there when I was exploring. The downside is the gravel road getting there is a 4-5 mile washboard road.

I have precious little Death Valley experience, being an east coaster. But in the fall of 2019 I led my semi-annual ManTsunami adventure trip on a backpacking excursion in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, and on the way up from Las Vegas we swung through DV. The van said 124F deg. We stopped and I got out and walked around for 30 minutes. The other guys quickly got back in and sat in the AC, but I just couldn't believe it and had to experience it. I went over a dune and down the other side and suddenly there was no sign of the van or the road or any civilizing influence of any sort. Even though I was only ten or twelve minutes from the 72 degree van interior, it was an eerie feeling to realize my lifespan would be measured in hours if I were left out there with no water.
That night we slept in 19 degree air (wind chill much lower) in the Ansel, for my greatest same-day temp delta ever: 105F.

That sounds like a fun adventure! DV is really a surreal place, no amount of pictures or videos will ever do justice. I went off-road on a great trail called West Side Road and I was on it all day. Sometimes I would get out and walk around. It’s so quiet in Death Valley when there’s no wind that you can hear your own blood flowing. Coupled with the fact that the closest person is probably 20 miles away, it’s a strangely calming and grounding experience. I can’t wait to go again. The weather was also perfect with the highs “only” being around 85-90F
