@GavinC did a cracking good job leading the trail run yesterday up in WA - here are a few more pics. We did Roaring Ridge Lookout in Kittitas county area.
Tons of fun.
Also nice to not be ripping anything off my car unlike my last few runs. Saving that for when my rock sliders come in.
The snow made for great fun. Recovery boards more than paid for themselves.
Lunch Trasharoo making a debut appearance Off the cliff Got the winch out If I hadn't seen photos of this place in the summer, I would not have driven so close to the edge. Very steep drop off in front Another shot of Gavin on the roof
GavinC - I, like many others, am just jealous of the trails you seem to have access to… we may have some options here on the East Coast but nothing that is close to what you seem to have.
I enjoy living here very much. We are quite spoiled. Lots of named trails and lots of unnamed ones. Over 40% of WA state is public land. So much to explore. There was more snow up there today so I suspect we were some of the last wheel tracks it will see till June.

Cheers @nashvegas It was great hanging out and getting to experience the winch in action. Top tier Saturday.
If you envy the West coast from the East coast, I recommend that you NEVER go to Texas.....There's some epic wheeling but in comparison to the size of the state, the opportunities are miniscule.
Hey Gavin, how much better are winter tires than BFGs?
For my money, there's nothing that comes close to a true winter tire in terms of traction and stopping ability on the snow. It's hard to come up with a quantitative comparison of the two. At least it's difficult for me. I'm sure there are objective tests and data online to compare. From my standpoint, knowing we're all victims of our own biases, they are a world apart from KO2s.
In deep snow, frozen mud/snow mix, sow covered rocks etc, when there are no other cars about, just you and the trail, trundling along, KO2s are a fine tire. A great option. Not nearly as good as a winter but good enough. A great tire.
On highway, with varied conditions here in WA. Slush, frozen crud, hard pack, ice, loose snow etc and lots of trucks, ploughs and other cars about, every scrap of grip can make the difference between a nice drive and a bad day. I do a lot of highway snow driving and for me it's a no brainer. It's the best bit of money I've spent on protecting me, my vehicle and the crew.
The highway was especially bad today. 4 or 5 accidents, snarl ups both directions with truckers putting on/off chains, an SUV in the ditch with a missing wheel and a ~4 car conglomerate in the mix. This will be my fifth winter running winter tires. I'm like an annoying evangelical winter tire preacher. I've seen the light and am happy to share my view with others.
TLDR. Snow Tires FTW. Testify!
