While I know my driveway isn't "in the wild," but I couldn't resist a photo-op when we could see the Aurora Borealis in southern Ohio last week. Even saw a meteor shooting across the sky. Fairly certain I'll never see a meteor and the Aurora at the same time ever again in my life. What an incredible experience!
Hello @GavinC, I forget which of three is your Defender, but do you know what type of rack is next to the ladders that holds the rotopax cans? Thanks!
All the 3 racks are OEM. The Rotopax mounts on the ladder is from Bad *** tents I think. My mount is a little simpler. two M6 t-track bolts secure the Rotopax mount to the rack itself. $5 as opposed to $250. Doesn't look as cool though.
Couldn't find a way to embed video, if someone knows how please tell. Never mind, seems after posting the reply it does the right thing, preview just did not show it.
Anyhow, did some easy exploring in Colville National Forest (WA, USA) and close by area this weekend. It's been a while since last editing videos and get little excited with speed ramping

That’s me in the grey one (and my other friend in the silver one)
Note we both bought the BA tents mount which only holds a 2.5 gal rotopax. The shop who installed his here, West Coast Overland, had the idea to slightly modify the mount so that it would accept a larger Rotopax. So I copied it.
Basically, the mount comes w/ 4 holes predrilled it to fit a 2.5 gal rotopax. But if you drill 4 new holes just aft of them (“aft” when mounted), it scoots the Rotopax over by about an inch and it gives clearance for a 3 gal rotopax.
I actually mailed BA Tents to tell them just to do this - because then it would fit both the 3 gal and 2.5 gal and they didnt seem keen on it.
Here are photos of the modification - you can see the original (chamfered / tapered) holes and then how I mounted it about 1” over to accommodate the larger 3 gal rotopax. If you do this mod, I would 10000% do this. Why have 0.5gal less capaicity?
