My wife did the course. Very good training on proper driving off road.
Thanks for sharing that. That looks epic!

I got the invite, didint realize it was the only one of its kind. If that many of us are going, I might go its only a few hours from me.

We live about 20 miles away from Oz. If you can, go!

‘Do they offer credit for the free 2-hour course?

I am very experienced at Jeep off-roading, particularly rock-crawling in SE Utah and Southern California and Arizona, but I still learned so much about all the electronic wizardry of the new Defender. In many ways its a very different experience than the manual/mechanical off-roading of the Jeep. In fact, I have an order in on a Grenadier largely because I find I prefer the old way (manual electric lockers, air down to 14 pounds, super-low ratio transfer case, etc.), even though the Defender is very, very good. Probably the same reason I traded a PDK GT3 on a manual GT4 back in 2016. Every single thing about the dual-clutch auto transmission is “better”; I just didn’t like it as much as a clutch and H-pattern 6-speed.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm pretty partial to Porsche GT cars, especially when they have a manual.

Of course. I don’t remember any of the costs now, but I do remember that after 2 hours I thought to myself, “Man, I’m sure glad we’re not done now.”

We’ve done a four hour session (with two hour credit) and one Owners Day at the Biltmore. I’d love to do a full day there next year just to learn more about how our Defender behaves off-road. It was eye opening doing some of the obstacles, plus you have the added benefit of knowing that you’re not going to be put in a position that will damage your vehicle. The area around Ashville is beautiful and if you’re into camping Brevard and Pisgah are just down the road. Only reason we didn’t do more of the Owners Days this year is because we couldn’t make the dates. Took my 4 and 7 year old with us and they had a blast.

Ok, let’s keep the threadjacks in check and get more info on the Defender event in NY. Who else is planning to go? Anyone call or find info on trailers? Off-road courses? Haven’t called them yet, but would need slightly more than 30ft overall since our trailer is 16ft. According to the site it sounds like we’d have to buy two spots. Only way I have a chance of going is if we can bring our heated squaredrop; not gonna tent camp in the 30’s. Been there too many times.
