Default Disable Auto-Fold Mirror (but allow manual operation)?

Is it possible to disable the Auto Folding Mirrors, but still allow Manual folding when desired?

A few years ago I had a 2017 Discovery and I had the Dealer disable the Auto Folding Mirrors. I assumed - incorrectly- that I would still be able to selectively fold them when desired by pressing the Left/Right mirror buttons simultaneously. But THAT was disabled as well.

Is it possible to disable the Auto Folding Mirrors and Still be able to manually fold them with the buttons when needed?

I think yes- I believe it's in the setting to disable mirror fold in the setting.
And to manually fold and unfold, you just need to press both L/R mirror adjustment buttons same time.

Yes, I am with familiar with how to manually fold them (mentioned it in my original post). Just wondering if you can STILL manually fold them with the buttons IF you disable the Auto folding.

If you change the settings to prevent fold when locking, it will also disable the 2 button fold in option. Its both or none.

Agree, it is both or none. I had my dealer disable the auto folding on mine and discovered you cannot fold them with the button. Makes no sense but that is how it is.

Just out of curiosity, why would one not want the mirrors to fold upon locking? Seems like a valuable feature, saving damage in parking lots from those who don’t care about other people’s property.

Mine froze folded in this weekend. 20 degree temps with rain that changed to 6" of snow. Went out to leave and both mirrors wouldn't move. I manually pulled them out, which allowed them to be used, then had to manually push the button to "reattach" them to the drive mechanism.

My MB froze the same way and when I opened the door the mirror made a "crack" sound. That was the gear breaking. That mirror never autofolded again. Replacement part at the time was over $500 plus install.

So I'd like the option to not have them autofold, but also I want to control it when I do need it without going through a bunch of menus to make the change.

Does anyone know how to disable the auto folding on a 2020? From what I gather in this post it is possible on some models or years?
