I would not be happy with that either. You could take a wire wheel grinder brush to I and give it a textured/rugged look? Not that you would have to do that. Maybe there is a solvent that will remove it?

That's sheet metal manufacturer marking...Sheets metal is usually water/ laser cut and completely wrapped in plastic.

I believe that it will wash off with a little acetone on a rag. It’s just ink. I get material like that in my shop all the time. Careful with that stuff around the paint and plastic.

imho you bought the best rear table on the market. Strong and quiet. Love mine.

try plumb's tailgate table - so far it's been great and happy with it. Most importantly no rattles (I did put in a lot of felt tape myself)

Just remove the ink.. best table money can buy by far.

Why not stick some self adhesive "carbon look" covering or similar on the top surface, and it will look better as well.

so does that mean the markings cannot be removed?

good call, i believe they are etched by laser or something , at least in my business we get them like this with excessive taping too. Probably can be buffed out somehow but that's a blunder really.
