Doug DeMuro Selling his 2020 Defender
Well, I will be that guy and disagree with the hatred towards Defender's driving aids. No, they are not perfect, I admit that, but having driven the car for more than 3000 miles for the last 6 days during our Easter trip, I have to say the ACC was super helpful and even the LKA made me feel much less tired after the 13-hour-day rides. If it had lane centering it would be much better for sure, but the light nudge to avoid you drifting from the lane was helpful. Yes, due to construction, fading, etc sometimes it won't see lanes or will "see" lanes that are not there and try to send you the wrong way, but all it takes (at least for me) is to apply a bit of force back to where I want it to go. It never, in any circumstances, "forced" me into another car or obstacle. For the ACC, I felt the middle setting is kinda the sweet spot for heavy commute driving and for road trip the setting with one bar served me best to avoid the occasional *** that tries to pass you on the right and cut in front of you if there is too much space. I never turn the driving aids off (road trip or commute) and I really hope in one of these SOTA updates LR pushes a lane centering feature to the LKA.
On a side note, what an absolute pleasure to drive this car in a road trip for hours and hours. It just eats the miles in complete comfort and grace. And, hell ya! I was lucky enough to drive for more than 3000 miles and not get a single rock/crack in my windshield. It is bugs galore, but no fatal rocks.
