Dumb question here from a LR new owner. Are all Defenders made without carpet?
New first time LR owner here.
I just took delivery of my new Defender V8 90 P525 yesterday.
To my surprise last night, the floors were not rubber mats on top of carpet, there is not any carpet in it.
Are all Defenders made without carpeted floors?
If not are their carpet kits sold by Land Rover for these cars.
I was just thinking it would be quieter inside if it had carpeted floors.
Other than the road noise it does not really bother me that it does not have carpet.
Did you buy it used? Your signature says it is a V8 and these do come with carpets to the best of my knowledge. I would ask the delaer or the person you bought it from if they forgot to put the carpet in the vehicle. Otherwise, there are plenty of OEM carpets on ebay and they are inexpensive. Most Defender owners take the carpets out and replace them with the OEM rubber matts.
It was a left over 2023.
I bought it from a LR Dealer in FL, but I did buy it sight unseen.
I then had it shipped here to me in KS.
Are you saying it should have had carpeted floor mats standard from the Factory?
I was surprised it didn't have carpet on the floor under the mats.
Which I don't seem to have any mats in mine at all, so I will look around in the back maybe they are still stowed away somewhere.
Yes, I believe the V8's do come with carpets. New cars will have all the carpets and rubber mats in the back of the vehicle. I would personally call the dealer and ask where are the carpets and rubber mats. It should have come with both. Another way to find out which options came with your car is to look at the window sticker. They will probably ship them to you if they are not in the back of the car.
My V8 has rubber floors but I do have carpeted mats that sit on top. The stitching in the mats matches the leather, which I thought was a nice touch. I also got a set of rubber mats which I will probably use in the winter months.

Those mats do look nice.
My interior is all black.
That Tan in yours is sharp!
I was mainly just shocked to see or find that the floor was all rubber lined.
Even my Badlands Bronco that I just sold had carpet under the mats.
I have had many work trucks in my business that I ordered with rubber floors and vinyl seats. I just was not expecting to see a full rubber floor in a luxury car like this.
Again, not big deal, however I did think it was letting in a bit of road noise through the floorboards, which is what drew my attention to noticing there was not any carpet.
I am going to try and get some of those carpet mats like your and I might put some blankets down in the back to air in protecting the interior and add some sound dampening, since my back seats are likely to stay folded down 99% of the time just like they were in my 2dr Bronco.
I believe the Defender was geared towards, and marketed as a rugged off-road vehicle, capable of tackling challenging terrain, fording streams, and allowing owners to reach remote locations for camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. It was meant to accomplish this while also being able to be maintained in a clean condition without suffering the long term damaging effects of snow, rain, mud, kids, what have you. The Defender was designed to be quite different than others before it in this respect and does it well. I love the carpet-less build, after years of trying to maintain, vacuum and dry out soggy carpeting in other vehicles, and the ease in keeping it clean with much less time and effort. I guess others would rather have carpeting as seen by the inquiries of where to source it. For me, the carpeted mats are sufficient to allow the best of both worlds.
No carpets for my Defender!
(Seems like I’ve read something like that here before)
