I recently purchased a used 2020 Land Rover Defender 110. From the first day, I was informed that the electric (retractable) tow bar was not functioning. When shifting into reverse, it emits a beeping sound and displays an error message. Upon removing the tow bar, we discovered that one of the two mechanical pins that engage with the gear-like mechanism (similar to a wind-up clock) was broken. We replaced this part, and now, when detached and not connected with the car, the tow bar moves in and out smoothly.
However, the error message indicating that the tow bar is not fully open still persists EVERYTIME i move my gear to Rear drive it pops out and untill i press ok it doesnt go away (see screenshot). Electricians have thoroughly checked the motor, and it is in perfect working condition. I visited the dealership and requested that the tow bar be disabled via software, but the local dealer explained that they need a code from the main Jaguar office. Despite multiple requests in similar cases, they have been unable to obtain it.
As explained by the dealer, the issue seems to lie with the magnetic sensor located on the motor head, which tracks the position and rotations of the tow bar. Reprogramming this sensor is reportedly only possible at the manufacturer’s facility.
I simply no longer want to see this error. I don't need the tow bar at all. And it is not possible to get rid of it...
Also i am attaching current diagnostic mistakes car has.
hi,
the errors you show do not seem to be errors of position of the motor on the tow bar, they seem more like errors of missing connection.
in any case to align the position you need pathfinder official jlr program, there are also independent operators who help with programming.
an alternative could be the gap tool of Gap Diagnostic, with this you can disable the presence of the tow bar.
