Default Euro NCAP crash test - 2020 Defender 110

As I suspected, it's a tank.

Great test video but when I tested my Defender emergency braking I put a traffic cone in street and ran it over multiple times- has anyone had issues?

I don't know if a traffic cone would be large enough an object to trigger the emergency brakes. Don't really want to test that feature myself with anything larger, either.

I hope this helps! This is the sort of tech the encore visit should highlight.

If I’m not mistaken, it detects moving objects only.

Collision avoidance Page 178 of the Defender handbook, USA spec

forward alert may not react to slow moving vehicles additionally the instrument panel also displays a warning message if the vehicle is traveling between 18 & 80 mph

autonomous emergency braking is to detect real vehicles and pedestrians plus other certified target objects AEB is not designed to detect any other objects including non-industry approved targets.

I think cones and other objects like cardboard are not identified as cars or pedestrians based upon some videos I watched. It would be interesting to know the science and logic behind the design of the emergency braking identification.

Powerfully did have a pretty funny one on a pedestrian cutout named Jim where he played around with AEB. As I said it would be interesting to know how the system identifies an object. No luck with volunteers.

I thought these things were governed and not allowed to go 50km/h because that far exceeds the speed limit in a mall parking lot. Who's pushing a shopping cart that fast anyway! I guess when she is in a hurry to get to tennis practice the obstacle avoidance is important to have...

Oh boy...
