I’m also hoping they get the BASE Rack sorted. Perhaps we should independently ping them requesting it :-)

I have similar setup. Yakima skybox instead. Do you have any noise problems? Mine is terrible. At one point it was OK, but, since, I have moved it around a bit and now it makes loud humming sound at about 65mph. Did you find any particular distance from front; or cross bar spacing or anything that made a difference? Thanks

No problems to speak of. Noise level is just fine. I moved and modded the crossbars to fit the box's recessed floor but other than that nothing fancy.

thanks. I’ll keep playing around with it. Just so curious that it was fine and now…., It looks like you are clamping to the second bar
from the front? Mine’s on the 3rd from front (not counting the front of rack as a bar). Might be vibrating onto the one in front of it. May try some window foam strip on top of that one.

For anyone installing a ladder or carrier themselves, here is a good technique I haven't seen yet that I used for marking exactly where the screw holes line up to your trim piece. I didn't find the templates from Vulkan particularly useful for my vehicle's hole positions for the ladder or carrier. I used screws machined down to spikes, screw them in, and gently snap on your window trim (don't ruin your clips). When you remove it, you'll have nice little dots where to do your drilling. It's actually crazy how inconsistent these holes are drilled into each our Defenders. My front and back holes were quite visibility misaligned in the vertical direction. Notice the hole spacing vs. the actual thread position in the last pic.

Default Oem

If you are going to use the roof rack then get the OEM. I use all front runner stuff on mine had a hell of a time finding the t bolts for it but now we know that etrailer.com has them. If you are going to take it overlanding use the front runner one everything will just be easier to mount. I am 306 pounds on a good day and the OEM ladder holds me no problem.

Hector - Always love your rig. What side mirror extensions are you using in that last photo?

hello! new lurker and excited future Defender 110 owner here. My build is supposedly going to be ready in July. Wasn't sure if I am able/it is worth asking this as a new thread, so figured i'd pose the question here. I kinda don't have a need for the expedition roof rack, but love the ladder and its look. i was wondering if anyone 1) has only added the ladder, and 2) what people's opinion might be of a Defender with only a ladder and no roof rack?

Default IMO not good

I don’t think it would look good because someone would ask you “what is that for “ and you would say it’s a ladder, next question is why do you need a ladder if you don’t put anything on your roof? Just my two cents.
