Default Expedition Rack & Luggage Box?

I have the Expedition rack on my 2020 as part of the Explorer pack. We’re driving to Tellurude for Christmas and I need to start figuring out now what I’m going to do for luggage space. I’m at a loss, I haven’t seen or read of anyone mounting a luggage box on top of the Expedition rack. I have a very large LL Bean canvas duffle that I could strap on as worst case. Any suggestions?

We have an 18 cubic foot Thule box that will mount on the expedition roof rack with minimal work. It required me replacing the standard bolts that came with the box, with longer M6 x 80 bolts (found them on Ebay https://ebay.us/Vu1feo ) I then purchased 1 8' long 1x4 piece of wood, and cut it in half. The wood supports the bottom of the box and the longer bolts allow for the wood. It's very simple and would likely work with any box.

I fabricated a small frame that fits three expedition boxes, they’re snug and won’t move now I’ve created the top bracket securely 😎

Thanks for the link.

I've been looking for a similar solution for my Thule Box. It's designed to fit root bars so the recesses in the base pose a challenge for the rack mounting. Do the bolts slot into the t-tracks on the OEM rack okay? Which Thule box do you have if you don't mind my asking.

The bolts replace the bolts that came with the box. They are longer so that I can set the 1x4 between the roof rail and the box allowing the box to sit flush. I purchased the Thule box back in 2004 and I remember it's 18 cubic feet, but not the model.
