Default Factory Winch Kit

Search didn’t yield what I am looking for so I thought I would just ask. I want to add a winch to my wife’s 90. Found the factory kit which I do like because everything is hidden and it doesn’t change the look of the vehicle. Has anyone done this to their defender? Are you glad that you went this route? What did it cost you? Looks like parts are around $6000 which seems very high. No idea what the charge to install would be.

Picks of why I am asking.

Then through a google search I found this. Still happy to heat any additional comments.

I went with the Lucky 8 Stealth winch tray (about 1000 dollars) and sourced a Warn Zeon 12S for $1400, then paid a local LR specialist about $1200, iirc. It’s a bear of a job. So a little under $4000.

I have a lot of experience installing Warn winches on Jeeps, but this is a whole nother kettle of worms. I had no interest in doing the job myself, although several forum members have done so.

I personally like both of your options but the wife wants the winch hidden so looks like I am stuck with factory.

I will likely choose one of your options on my 110.

I first looked at the factory winch kit but that huge hunk of plastic out front turned me off. The Lucky8 kit hides the winch better and if it wasn't for my large Factor 55 hook and fairlead out front it would be almost unnoticeable. In my 4X4's over the years I have used winch's often so it was absolutely necessary for me to have one.

NoGaBiker your winch install looks great! I added black rubber 3/8" flat washers from Ace Hardware behind the black plastic nuts for a better attachment of the mesh grill.

Thanks, yours does too! And lol, I added split washers to try and ensure the plastic acorn nuts stay in place.
