Just installed mine...love everything about it except, wow, it sure does make a ton of wind noise.

I don't have a sunroof, so I ordered the $200(!) Fairing today in the hopes it quiets down. The little deflectors it shipped with don't do a darn thing, as far as I can tell.

Am I crazy or is anyone else's really loud?

It cracks me up when I see people on forums say their rack doesn’t make any noise. Unless you have a full fairing, all these racks make noise, some of them a lot. The oem rack is no exception. My Voyager rack was like a jet engine up there until I put their full fairing on. Now it’s perfectly manageable, but not silent. The front runners are about as aerodynamic as a shoe box, so you’ll need to put a full fairing on just like every other rack, and that little wimpy wind deflector will not do the trick.

I have 2022 90X, with the factory expedition roof rack, on order.
Is there a wind fairing included from the factory and if not is one available?

I have not seen an OEM option for that rack. My guess is that it isn't as necessary, as the OEM rack definitely "looks" more aerodynamic and LR presumably did extensive testing with it.

let me know about the fairing. I was really thinking about making my own out of fiberglass. But it’s one of those “time versus money discussions”

where does your noise seem to come from? I used to have a light bar on the front and it was way worse. Now at like 70 mph I get one of the cross bars reverberating really bad and I’m pretty sure the fairing will fix it. But the noise comes from like the middle of the rack not the front

Will do...it should be here in a few days and I will report back.

Not sure where exactly the noise is coming from...sort of the "whole thing"? I definitely believe it to be more the front of the rack, but the noise is really the reverberating you describe. It's kind of like driving with only one window down, but not as bad.

Hoping the fairing solves for front edge and guides air over the rest (and gear once it's up there). I realize it won't be perfect but it has to be better than this!

I still cannot decide if I like the short rack or not. I definitely like the price compared to the oem, long FR, and voyager but something about the proportions bugs me.

also as far as i can tell you are looking at a custom ladder solution with the long front runner, so that sucks. The voyager rack + ladder is probably my favorite looking option of all but at ~$3k plus the rail removal uncertainty…idk

Same considerations I had. I like the long FR but wasn't going to mess with the OEM rail bolts. I don't like the oem, or the price of it.

This thing is seriously sturdy and has more room than I need. Proportions are sort of a personal preference, but I actually really like it seeing it in the flesh. Very "function over form" in a way that suits my white top, white wheeled, base model.

thats good to hear, plus with the oem rails the lucky 8 rear ladder is compatible which i think goes better with the FR look than the oem ladder does

i’ve just seen this: https://lucky8llc.com/collections/defender-2-accessories/products/110-britpart-expedition-rood-rack

looks like it uses the oem rails, but i could be wrong there.
