(NAS - North American Spec and ROW - Rest Of World. Or something like that)
I think I recall that same fact. Non-locking in North America market, locking in the rest of the world. And yes, you have the acronyms correct.

My F-Type was the same. F-Types in other markets had the locking fuel cap, the manual implied that the car should have one, but US-spec cars did not. Reportedly the wiring was there but not the solenoid...

It used to make a bit more sense, outfitting the non-North American market with locking fuel filler doors, as they used to pay about the same per liter as we did per gallon. But not currently with our prices being what they are. Almost makes me want to buy the old-style locking gas caps that were popular in the 70’s when the embargoes caused block long lines at the station and you could only fill up on odd-even days based on your plate number. I think I’m more worried about someone cutting off my catalytic converter, being that the clearance to ground of the vehicle makes it an easy target. Thinking of putting a sign in the window, “SMILE FOR THE CAMERA, DUCK FOR THE BULLETS”.

Despite the fuel prices, I didn't read any stories about people getting fuel siphoned out of their vehicles. Maybe it just didn't happen around me?

I think about the cat getting cut off due to the ground clearance as well, but only when on the road since it's garaged otherwise. I think my biggest concern is people who key / damage nice vehicles out of spite, but I've been lucky so far.

I've been hearing about more people just drilling the tanks and catching the fuel in containers than about siphoning. And I agree, my biggest fear is getting the catalytic converter cut out more than losing a partial tank of fuel.

Yes, that has been happening around the country. In fact, saw a news clip of some genius drilling into a tank which ignited due to the sparks from the drill bit. Well, guess he got his due. Obviously didn’t reach an education level to understand what happens when fuel vapors and sparks are in proximity. Siphoning is not like in the old days, there are usually splash flaps and vapor filters in the neck which make it near impossible to insert a tube. Worse still is a hole in the fuel tank. Can only imagine how long it would take the dealer to get a fuel tank shipped. And like the previous poster, I too worry about some jealous airhead vandalizing my Defender because it represents some elite arrogant wealth to them. I’m not rich, just worked hard and saved for many years, no kids to put through college, modest lifestyle and decided to treat myself to something nice. Had heard though of cities where rogue groups were vandalizing high end vehicles out of spite, apparently in the belief that anyone who drives one is a Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk type. I’m considering one of the catalytic converter anti-theft devices every time I read another story about it. That would definitely not be fun to deal with either.
