As context, this isn’t JLR proactively “Locking down” and preventing access - it’s compliance to EU cybersecurity laws. Starting with 2026 (or 2025 some build date) model year, EU mandating strict regulations about anti-hacking on vehicles.
If someone with ill intentions wanted, they could stick something in our OBD port and hack our car. Or - worse - hack via OTA if they figured it out. Remotely mess with our cars. Cause accidents. Chaos. That is what this lockdown is trying to prevent.

At work whenever I get on the phone with network security to talk about something of mine that they broke by implementing some kind of blanket firewall rule without a proper impact analysis - I tell them "I can always tell when you guys are doing your jobs when I can't do mine."
Yep I don’t disagree. It’s definitely not my position. It’s the EU government’s position !
