Gas Grade and Brand
I always use premium 93 octane, but I'd say 75% of the time I also use the Shell V-Power Nitro +. I also use Sunoco, as there's a Sunoco station right next to my office, and Kroger. The problem here in Ohio, is that it is one of three states (Nebraska & Alaska being the others) that doesn't require fuel testing, and there have been a few news reports lately of people getting bad gas in my area, but only at crappy Speedway stations. I've never had a problem with the Shell, Sunoco and Kroger stations that I frequent.

91 usually from Valero or Costco. Aren’t there like only 2-3 refineries anyway that supply most of the gas stations?

Most of the gasoline, at least in the east, comes through several pipelines and is basically the same. As it arrives at the retail marketers additives are added, usually secret and not transparent. However it is conventially considered to burn cleaner and more efficient. Hence the “top tier” designation. Typically the discount retailers do not add additives. Some believe additives are important and others say gas is gas.

Being in the Northeast, I use 93 or 91 octane, which ever is available. And it is usually either at Irving, Citgo, or Sunoco. If I happen to see an Exxon or Shell, then I will go there instead. Costco gas is also supposed to be good, but the lines are always ridiculously long so haven't purchased Costco gas in a long time. Being from California, I was always partial to Chevron, but no Chevron out here. And always avoided ARCO gas as I got terrible mpg in my P38 using ARCO.
