Grenadier Experience and measurements to L663
Very disappointing to see this. Only 800mm wading and no snorkel. That's going to be a big problem in the Australian market.
I guess the Kalihari and Simpson desert commuters will be delighted. No pleasing everyone I suppose. I just don't get the appeal of a RAI. Useless for me.
WTH happened the snorkel? They've gone to a dumb RAI like the Defender.

i say that is a great analogy since they sponsor a cycling team. It ties everything together.
Fun stuff !
This users guide provided by ADVAW8S is really helpful -- facts without market hype or obfuscation through fancy language. Page 12 on the drivetrain is very clear.
I found this, it looks helpful: https://ineosgrenadier.com/en/us/the...nd-development
-----------------------------
Bottom-line: It is a six-cylinder G wagon / LR4 / Discovery 4 equivalent from a drive-train and electronics point of view with electronic monitoring for ETC (electronic traction control -- how much wheel spin it allows when appropriate such as in low-speed sand and mud) and ESC (Electronic stability control -- capable of ensuring zero wheel spin in conditions such as in snow at highway speed). This means it has some degree of electronically controlled fast braking on each wheel.
----------------------------
I REALLY LIKE THE FACT THAT IT IS PRE-WIRED, AND FULLY READY MECHANICALLY TO CUSTOMIZE THE VEHICLE. And yes, standing on the hood is absolutely a necessary capability.
Consciously old-school. Enjoy !!

The Grenadier looks great.
l had one on order since early 2022 but had to cancel it because as at November 2022 there was still no delivery date.
l needed it delivering by the end of March 2023 because that's when a govt tax incentive for buying a new commercial vehicle ends here in the U.K.
l also has a Defender Commercial on order from January 2022 and that arrived in November 2022 so l took it.
As at the end of January 2023 there's still no delivery date on the Grenadier, despite production "starting" at the end of 2022.
In reality l would have likely had the Grenadier over the Defender.
Both vehicles l ordered were around the same price.

l've come from a 2005 Defender and it worked really well for my business.
The interior was rugged and there was loads of space inside.
The new Defender is a lovely vehicle but the interior is in my opinion too "premium" for a commercial vehicle, l can see it looking tatty after a couple of years.
The Grenadier is like my old Defender with plastic finishes and rugged components that will take abuse, and still look good after 100,000 miles.

Got to sit in the Grenadier at Expo East and was struck by how tight the cockpit felt. I’m 6’2” and my head felt surrounded by the roof around the driver sunroof, and arm room felt tight. Tight to the point where I’d probably never want to own one. Just not comfortable feeling at all. Ridiculous number of switches. I get the switches vs screen thing, but I’d spend five minutes trying to figure out where the heck the switch I want is located. Cockpits are great in planes because you don’t need to worry about taking your eyes off the windshield every second unlike road driving. I really didn’t like the thing at all. Made me appreciate the genius of the Defender interior.
I wonder if they also kept the hideously uncomfortable rear seats just to remain true to the old-timers.
