When you're in drive, push the shifter to the left for Sport mode.

Most want to raise this thing I'd like to give it a better stance for a bit less body roll during 'spirited driving.' to be clear, I know its no sports car. But I've left it in access height a few times and was careful to not go above 35mph to keep it from raising itself, and I love how it feels.
I haven't mainly because there's a parking garage in my life that is 1" from de-finning my truck if I don't remember to put it in squat mode. I hesitate to mess with that.

I haven't notice much of a difference with this? Basically just allows you to 'shift up and down' no?

Has anyone who’s used the gap tool received the following error when trying to access the configuration mode:

I have an email into the company but thought I would ask here as well. Thanks

Actually, although it does allow you to “manual” shift, Up and Down, almost like paddle shifters, it does change the shift points and holds the RPMs longer before upshifts, and drops them down quicker during downshifts. The response is definitely felt when you slide the shifter into Sport Mode and stomp the gas when you need a little extra acceleration in a passing situation, or just driving around town it seems a bit more spirited.

I’m not familiar with the X5, so don’t know the HP or curb weight, but you mention lack of linear power and urgency. The Defender is quite hefty, and it’s weight can be felt, so if the X5 has more HP and/or weighs less than the Defender, most of that difference could be attributed to power to weight ratio. And even gearing ratios could play a factor in ‘seat of the pants’ feel when accelerating. Without anything similar in category I could compare it to, I have to say I am more than happy with the off the line acceleration, and in my early ownership, was very surprised at its pep, given its bulk and sturdy build.

Unfortunately I do not have a soft close rear tail gate (and wish I did as I always feel like I've got to slam the sh*t out of it to close it). But it may give me the pop open option so that's good I suppose. I've seen (I think) Vulcan do a retrofit and its on my to do list some day. Clear sight is a long term potential add as the hardware cost and work to run the wiring is more than I can foresee investing anytime soon.

The suspension height settings are not part of the CCF, they are simply programmed into the EAS ECU. The IIDTool can change these base settings to raise or lower the vehicle - it takes a minute or 2 the first time and under a minute afterwards. There is also a memory for 3 pre-programmed heights once you are happy with your changes, so you can go back to stock, lower for extended highway and higher for larger off road tires in about 30 secs. The IIDTool is not quite as instantaneous as the Llams but it costs less, does much more, requires no install, and leaves everything stock so you won't have any additional components to cause issues.

I've been procrastinating on getting one. I had no idea it would mimic (albeit a little slower than) a LLAMS.

Speed is not really a problem as I'd only very rarely need extra off-road height. Sure would make a huge difference when an extra inch or two are needed. I don't want to run lift rods as I don't want to lose down travel and want to be able to fit in my garage in winter. This sounds like the ideal solution without the effort/cost of a LLAMS install.

Can the change to height be done easily enough trailside?

Thanks for all the info.

Yes it can be done at a trail head, on the trail, etc quite easily: plug the IIDTool in, open the app, go to the 'Height' menu, choose the setting you'd like, disconnect. Done.
It actually makes rods obsolete.
