Many headrest mounts are identical in a model like the Defender, so that one could simply buy the replacement in the version they prefer and pop it in. For example, a newer "winged" version with the older 2021 non-winged version.

I may go and remove both from different cars and at least visually compare with photos and measurements or even better, test for the swap idea.

Unlike my BMW, I don't think these Defender headrests have a wired circuit for anti-whiplash so it ought to be doable.
