Default "High voltage shutdown not possible - system live"

I got the above warning yesterday during a long drive from Lexington, KY to Baltimore, MD. We were about 6 1/2 hours in to the drive and it popped up. Not at all clear what it means or why it is warning me. On shutdown and restart the warning went away.

Anyone have this warning? Anyone know what it is referring to?

I can find the warning message in the "Hybrid System" section of the RR manuals, but nothing in the Defender ones.

according to this: https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/t...b0ecfa9a/en_GB

can still be driven safely, but go see someone.

My guess it's related to the supercharger that is run by the small battery.

So my guess is either software or the 48v hybrid battery itself. The 48v battery has contactors built into it to allow high voltage to flow. It's pretty rare these days, but I'm the early days of electrified vehicles these would sometimes stick closed, causing power to be permanently flowing. It isn't dangerous unless you get into an accident that severs an HV cable, or unless someone is working on the HV system but there are workarounds for that and plenty of steps to ensure said person is aware. The HV system not turning off is similar to just leaving your key on.

I doubt your fault is related to another component in the HV system, because that would typically cause a different message or cause the HV system to be powered down right then out of an abundance of caution.

Get it checked out sooner rather than later. Even if it goes away after a key cycle or two, you never know if it'll come back out present with worse symptoms.

Smile SOLVED -high voltage shutdown due to LOW VOLTAGE BATTERY

Hi, I've just had this error in my 2015 Range Rover Hybrid. I thought the Hybrid System had packed ion and the high voltage battery had died. The car was limping along without the hybrid system until it would not opern or shut the boot and the seats would not adjust and then it would not start. i replaced the low voltage battery and everything worked fine again. So relieved it was nothing too seriopus and expensive!

For sure, take it to the dealer as soon as you can. The 48v batteries and hybrid systems have been a nightmare for a lot of car manufacturers. I am aware of multiple Audi car models having this issue, which caused the cars to be stranded and towed to their dealer. Also, Audi had no parts available to fix the issue and some customers were without their Audis for more than 3 months. I do not know what 48v systems Land Rover uses, but I suspect they probably source them from the same company. Mercedes also had their share of issues with the 48v systems.

I just had this warning pop on and off three times on a short ride. Anyone know the issue / if OP was resolved??

Thanks!
