Yeah, I wouldn’t put any weight on the rear tire. One of the LR rack designers was on FB a while ago and said the door is not designed for that, and with bouncing and dynamic loading, you could bend the door over time.

Kuat also makes a swing away bumper mount. https://www.kuatracks.com/product/pivot-2/

I think the heavy duty 1up with the 7" extension may be the solution. researching and will let you know. I still like JesseRohr's set up too.

I know the extension is the quick easy win. I might as well order it today so I have it ready when I can get the bikes back out.

Kuat makes great stuff too. FYI, their extension goes out 10" on the HI Low.

Yep, it happens all of the time with Wranglers and larger tires. They finally started to address the issue from the factory.

I am starting to look for an easy to use bike rack. Can someone with some knowledge on this subject please let me know if the rack in the link is a reasonable option as I am clueless and not too sure where to start.
Thanks,
John_

Another factor to consider is the top tube on your bikes as most newer bikes have angled or rounded top tubes. Hanging the bike on a hitch rack from the top tube often puts it at an odd angle that may not be secure. I'm thinking a hitch rack where the bike wheels sit in a tray is the way to go. Just need to decide which one.

That new Yakima EXO system looks nice and has many optional accessories. However the base is $499 and the bike rack is $479.

New toys arrived:

I already had a 1UpUSA rack, but needed to get a way to clear the rear mounted spare. Off of their site, I ordered their swing away Rack Attach and it works perfect for our bikes.

My wife has the Turbo Levo, which I will say is a ton of fun to ride!
