Is that the large Rack Attack? It looks like a great solution!

i have a kuat base 2.0 2 bike. it doesn’t clear my spare tire and waiting for my kuat hi low extension. i should be able to mount two bikes and rotate the rack up when not in use when installed. i have been taking off the rack when not in use.

Default I use the 1up anti wobble extension and the 2-4 bike works great.

Maybe if the roof was four inches lower, but it’s kind of a crazy height to be lifting bikes.
I just ordered the Rakattach and plan to substitute for the extension. The anti wobble is key, don’t use a regular extension.

My wife has the Turbo Levo, which I will say is a ton of fun to ride!

Looks great! I've also got a 1Up and waiting for my defender to come in. Did you also consider their hitch extension?

Did you have to buy the extension separate for the RM rack or did it come that way?

I just ordered the large size driver side Rakattach from 1Up. Person I spoke with said this should allow the 1Up bike rack to clear the spare without adding an extension.

Man. That looks like a good bit of kit. I hate the idea of a hitchrack for taking it on and off; the idea of trying to sling a bike on top of the Defender is scary though. I'm only 6'7!

Yep, got the large figuring that it might be the only one to clear the spare tire without an extension . Works great. Now I just need the weather to cooperate.

Hi,

Yes, I considered it and then just decided I wanted to be able to get into the rear of the Defender a little easier. So I splurged for the swing.

I've been using the Kuat base with the hi low and it works pretty well....gets the bikes far enough from the tire and you can rotate it up. Without bikes and rotated down, the lift gate clears the rack fine. With bikes on the rack and rotated down, you can open the lift gate pretty far but if I'm remembering correctly, it still won't fully swing open. Might depend on how big your bike frames are, this was with a couple of fat bikes.
