How I Fixed The Wind Noise (A Pillar)
Interesting fix. Which 3M tape did you use? Curious how that tape will be to remove when the windshield needs to be replaced. I would look for a double sides UV stable removable tape.
As a test someone could apply blue painters tape on the windshield rubber trim side and go for a ride to see the result. Then remove it and do the same on the trailing edge side of the trim and compare them both. That would tell you which side is causing the noise.
My guess is that the leading edge (windshield side) is the primary cause of noise. I also wonder if simply adding foam tape behind the rubber seal would force it to apply more pressure to the windshield and have the same result without having to cut tape back to remove the trim in the future.
FWIW I haven't pulled that trim off mine so I'm just going by what I can see if the video. I don't have much noise in mine so far.

As stated earlier, that's not going to be fun trying to get that off if/when you need to replace your windshield. In my opinion, you probably didn't need to remove the adhesive backing at all and accomplished your goal while maintaining the ability to easily remove. The double sided tape just needs to block the wind from getting under the A-Pillar trim which is whats making the noise.
I agree this may lead to future damage in case of windshield replacement (fairly common with our cars). Those 3M adhesive tapes are no joke once they are glued in. What worked well for me (and others) was inserting insulating foam in between the rubber and windshield. It was discussed at length in another thread here. Just can't seem to find it.
