Default Instrument panel settings

In the instrument panel, under Vehicle Settings, is an option called "Auto apply 4x4i Info". Does anyone know what it does?

In general, how does everyone use the instrument panel, any favorite settings, or any tips and tricks?

I can’t answer the 4x4 info question, but regarding the instrument settings, I think it depends on if you have the interactive display and HUD. I have both, and I found that most of the display layouts are mostly based on how your eye sees things. Meaning it’s not as much about seeing different info based on your screen settings, but more about how you want the info arranged. Whether you choose one dial or two dial all the info is still there. For example, I thought going to one dial, just the tach, would be fine because I already see the speed in the HUD, but it turns out your speed still shows inside the tach dial, as well as the HUD.

I chose the one dial with the Trip A info left, single dial middle, Map right.

The only tip/trick I found that wasn’t obvious (at least to me as a new LR owner) was that you can change some of the screen info on the bottom by pressing the button on the end of the turn signal stalk. You can scroll through options like avg mpg, distance till empty, etc…

I think (don't quote me) that the auto apply 4x4 may be that no matter what settings you have in the instrument cluster, if you switch the truck to any of the Off-road modes, it will automatically show the 4x4 info in the cluster. Which, for me btw, never worked as I think it should, since it does not show the wheel spin/shocks/etc/etc info that shows in the pivi screen. I think it is a flaw on the Defenders, because I have seen some RRS and when the 4x4 info is in the cluster it shows the same info as in the infotainment screen.

Does anybody ever notice this?

As for the instrument cluster setting, mine is full map all the time, unless when I am off-roading. Since I do not have HUD, having the map front and center is much more convenient. I also think it is just a waste to have the fully configurable cluster and leave it on the two dial mode, just like the traditional cluster. At a minimum I will use the one dial option with added info on the side panels. If I paid extra for that it is damn certain I will use it and make my money worth it. But, this is just me.

I have a quick question...maybe someone knows as I have not found the answer...

On my interactive display, I am running the spedo on the left, map in the middle, and the rpm on the right...on the spedo, there are red markers at 30mph and at 70mph. Anyone know why only these two are different?

I switched from one dial mode just to see what you were pointing out and that’s a good question. I’d be interested to hear the answer.

These are your standard speed limits in UK on urban and motorway roads respectively. Red markers are there to assist driver in sticking to same.

I like to use the driver assist option at night to keep things as dark as possible.

Stealthy

Daytime I go one dial. Map on the right. media on the left.
