Iphone 16 Not Wireless Charging
Just updated to the iPhone 16 pro. When I place it on the wireless charging pad on my Defender 110 V8 it's doesn't charge. I've a feeling due to the cameras being more raised that the previous models. Any insight? or is anyone else having these issues?
I just upgraded as well a week ago. It is very sensitive as to the position on the mat. How well it is charging is up for grabs, but it does get warm, possibly good for the upcoming winter. To make mine charge, the end with the camera bump needs to be firm against the ridge next to the driver, or reversed with the bump firm to the ridge next to the passenger, move it ¼" and it stops charging. Personally, the bump is a kind of stupid engineering decision, to not make the back flat and utilize the volume for, let's say; more battery, duh. Having it stick out so far, for several generations of phones is the epitomy of "Live and die by a bad decision."
So carefully position your phone and give it a bit of time, since the charge indicator does not appear instantly. Also ensure, if you put the obligatory case on, it didn't make it worse.

My 16 pro charges wirelessly… as my 14 pro did before it. I don’t use a case which helps. Honestly though the wireless charging seems pretty worthless as (at least with my 14) it gets hot and throttles or stops charging… so if you’re listening to podcasts on a road trip it can end up with less and less power. Funny story the last time this happened I didn’t have a cord with me so I kept cycling the phone in the console fridge to cool it off before trying to put more juice in.
Now I carry a dedicated defender only usbc cord which charges much better.

I'm upgrading to the iPhone 16 later this week. Coming from an iPhone SE 2nd gen. I don't want to give up my button, but it it's time. IIRC, I read somewhere that the 16 offers faster wireless charging, but I always use the USB-C to charge and play music. Wireless charging is always slower than USB-C, and I prefer the sound quality of a wired connection.
FWIW, I've been using the Centre Console Twin Wireless Charging Dock since I purchased my Defender in July. I found the wireless charging mat pretty much useless when trying to charge my iPhone 14 Pro at the time. The Centre Console Twin Wireless Charging Dock worked well with my 14 Pro and works well with my 16 Pro (both phones with cases).
