I’m on 4th Land Rover… Am probably Land Rover for life… but every time a “civilian” asks me if they should get one I say no, unless they are just leasing.

best example… DLR goes bad, most civilians aren’t going to come here to figure out how to fix it reasonably, they are going to the dealer and getting a proctologist examination.

Don't feel bad recommending JLR products. Literally every other manufacturer has some quality issues or another with their vehicles. Yes even the condescendingly vaunted Toyota brand has issues with their new products.

IWhen i bought my 2019 Porsche I thought I was making a good decision slicing the margins between quality, reliability, luxury and performance. Turns out that I might have glitter in the oil from a known 3.0L turbo V6 issue that was so widespread in the Audi models (with the same engine) that they extended the powertrain warranty to 8 years 100k.

There is literally no perfect brand at the moment.

Totally agree. Cars and trucks nowadays are rolling computers, and every brand is having quality issues. Land Rovers are no better or worse than any other brand. Having been a Land Rover owner since 1982, I can tell you that today's LR vehicles are extremely reliable and well built. As stated above, Toyota and Lexus have had a time with their most recent engines falling apart due to a manufacturing issue.
