Don't know if he was behind the elimination of the Green Oval, but I hope it makes a return going forward.
I don't know about you guys, but I've always proudly said I drive a Land Rover when asked.
I rarely, if ever, identified the model.
The '25 Defenders look naked without the Oval badge.
I'm not sure what you mean because the 2025 Defenders I see have the green oval on the grill just like I'd expect.

It hasn’t gone yet but their apparent stated intention was to sideline the brand and identify each model line purely by its name. Discovery, Evoque or its successor, Defender and Range Rover. No Land Rover. There may now be a change to retain the brand name as new management, hopefully more grounded in reality, has taken over and is weeding out the weaknesses in the company. New broom sweeps clean and all that. I mean, I can’t see any other company dumping their heritage and respected brand. Can you envisage BMW or Mercedes or Porsche abandoning their brand name on their vehicles? Of course not.
Many remember the US market naming shift to alphanumeric (Discovery to LR3) and then a change back to model alpha names a few years later.
I think the "House of Brands" concept will survive in JLR's post-McGovern era and will continue to develop models under each brand (aka Baby Defender, etc). I will not be surprised however to see a quick return of the Land Rover badging and in some cases marketing signifying the Land Rover "make" of the various brands. The only hold out might be the Range Rover family with Land Rover not as conspicuous.
Never unafraid to talk the talk and walk the walk and always happy to stand in front of the world’s media, McGovern often gave the impression that it was he and he alone that gracefully carried the can for JLR’s triumphs, from Evoque to Velar to Defender.
McGovern might have believed himself to be untouchable.
The exterior of the original Land Rover LRX concept, the blueprint for the highly successful Evoque – oft held up as the foundational product of the McGovern era – was designed largely by Julian Thomson. Much of the modern Range Rover exterior design language was overseen by Massimo Frascella, who also shaped the Defender (and is now chief creative officer at Audi). These were never widely disseminated facts.
So, with this brand of brands bull**** going on, Tata is exploring options on expanding the luxury class Range Rover to the Sedan market (parallel to Jaguar) , the light pick-up truck and motorcycle bracket. With old Gerry now given his marching orders, and to further reduce costs, JLR employed AI in its quest for delivering the next brand of Range Rovers.
Here are a few designs now before the board. (images blatantly stolen from another forum and some unnamed AI)
Jaguar re-branded under Range Rover
For the Evoque range, there will be a coupe and a light duty truck version
The Discovery will also get a coupe version
And last but not least, the motorcycle category.

This is complete fabricated misinformation or a joke.
