For trucks already in transit, I'm curious how they handle it at customs and if there will be a delay. Additional funds have to transfer somehow, but who pays? Mine arrives Saturday and I don't really know if it's JLR paying or the automotive group. I assume the former, but I didn't ask. I was just happy to receive an email friday saying our December quote stands. I did happen to see they raised lease and finance rates and that makes sense. I've never leased before and always paid cash. Not trading anything, and a lease could be tempting. I think buying outright though makes the most sense. I'm very optimistic, but I'm guessing values will be strong and there will be no issues for parts in the long run. Always a concern if it gets hit and sits in shop. We had an accident in our 2017 Disco and it took 6 months to repair. I bought another BMW after a few weeks. Ironically that motor only lasted 8k miles, but that's another story.

This is an article about AUDI.

However, I heard that JLR, is in the same situation. Vehicles which are en-route to port, or arrived after the 2nd are / were also stopped in port. Has any one some more detailed info on this ?
Even if they were ordered before (?) - what a mess ...

Saturday I had the fun of going to 2 car dealers. Sharing my anecdotal experience:

First - JLR to pick up an oil filter / drain plug / drain plug washer for my D2. All simple and was $30. I know a number of folks at the dealership from dragging my cars through there, the service manager was in. We got to chat for a bit. Notably he said there was a meeting / call with LRNA this past week in which the dealer principals were all muted that ended without an ability for dealer questions or conversation. Imagine that. Jeez. He said they had no idea what would actually happen. He would not tell me anything specific about what would happen to cars in port, on ships, basically the questions being asked in this thread -- I do not think he knew. Otherwise, he would have told me, probably (he usually tells me ... things). The dealer is not in a good place with Jaguar being at 0.0 sales pace right now and inbound shipments from LR announced as stopping.

After that I went to the Porsche dealer.. I went to special order something from the parts counter -- that -- on March 7th when I initially got a price quote was $1789. I hesitated (a special order component that had to be made for my VIN). On Saturday April 5th = $3400. Price adjustment (Tariff wasn’t even part of the price adjustment, just a base price increase but would cover any tariff apparently). F it all to H. In all frankness, sometimes I wish the Porsche dealer were the victim of an errant missile strike anyway after routine service visits, but -- that’s in jest -- I do feel for the people at the dealers having to have conversations with people like me grilling them with questions about tariffs, pricing, questions. The guy seemed as annoyed as I was about the increase. He also said they were redoing service invoices for cars currently in service because parts prices had changed. What a nightmare.

It was quite obvious after visiting 2 different dealerships that neither of them had a good playbook to operate from. All I got was “I don’t know” from both LR and Porsche dealers. I think the automotive business might have just gone off the rails. Would not want to be a dealer now.

I can only imagine how frustrating it must for dealers and companies who import products to sell in the USA. Thanks for sharing your experience with both dealers.
