Angry July software update

After the update was downloaded, I lost my Spotify app, and there is no longer the option to add apps....It was always inconsistent before the download, and it would log me out of the system every time I turned the car off. Anyone else have problems?

Just restart your Privi and it should come back.

If you are logged out at each restart and the system defaults back to Guest, perhaps you are not saving your password? There is something you can tick as you enter it - it's been a while now, can't remember exactly where - that should save your user name and password and keep you logged in as a user.

Same thing happened to me. A reset fixed it. Of course, it took 8-10 attempts of holding the power button before it would reset, but it ultimately worked.

One would think they would get better with these software updates but in my opinion, the Pivi Pro system is anything but pro. It’s terrible.

Thanks. The power off option worked after 3 attempts.

I think the fact that they can do over the air updates have caused them to be very careless with their quality control. "Oh, we can just fix that for everyone in the next release." Rather than making sure they spend time testing how everything interacts, they just leave it to rapid fix cycles. Only, this isn't a normal Software Development project: this is people going 60+ mph in heavy machinery likely to get people killed. I think JLR is a bit reckless in their approach to tech quality.

Ha! Yeah, I'm thinking there's no loneliness in their approach.

I work in software development and the quality (or lack thereof) is pretty astonishing. However, Land Rover has never been known for its focus on extreme quality.

I guess my thing is what are we really achieving with these updates? Has anyone received any updates that are actually meaningful or said "wow, that's pretty cool it does this now?"

I didn't think so.

Instead, I continue to see things like Spotify just disappearing without notice, I have to spend 15 minutes holding the power button to force a hard reset because it takes 20 or more attempts for it to actually reset, SiriusXM just stops working (same reset cycle to get it back), etc. I think they were on the right page by doing OTA updates and Pivi Pro has a lot of potential, but it's wasted when you have such low quality control in the software testing and review phase.

Oh, and don't get me started by all of the dealers saying "Just wait for the next software update. We "hear" it will fix that."

Don't get me wrong, I love driving my Defender. I just wish that an $80K+ vehicle had a bit more quality control.
