Exclamation Just got a recall notice for 2022

Hi guys,

Carfax just emailed me about a recall:

Recall Number: N627
Positive Crankcase Ventilation Assembly

Any idea what this is?

Thanks...

PCV valve. One - way plastic valve that keeps gasses in the engine from entering the atmosphere. Typically an easy DIY replacement.
Which engine do you have?

I don't see anything on the NHTSA website. The only listed recalls for 2022 Defenders is the rear tail light issue. They have 5 for the 2021 - mostly interior stuff / labels... nothing about PCV.

I typed in the detail given. The recall is for BMW Vehicles:

Ha, I got the same thing from Carfax on the 2020 110 P400 yesterday. I figured I'd just wait to see if JLR sends something.

I remember this PCV thing now.....WAY back in 1979 I had a Jeep CJ5 with a 304 V8 that seized up. Come to find out, the PCV sat in the top of the valve cover and it sucked all the oil out of the motor slowly but surely LOL.

When I got this recall for the Defender it said crankcase ventilation assembly, I was thinking this was something down in the oil pan crank area...

I'd assume this is a 1 minute fix 🤞

The curious thing that has me wondering, is why you got a recall notice from CarFax and not from the manufacturer. Usually it is the manufacturer or the dealership that issues the recall, not a third party like CarFax.
