BTW, that "ours" in "Our LR's a travel vehicles..." refers to my LRs - our family LRs. I am def not trying to state that everyone here sees their LR that way.

They're hooning about in a muddy field with vehicle A and B. Fun for those involved no doubt, but there seems little value to any of it.

Probably along the lines of

Wonderful, look at the Grenadier go through that muddy area. Like a hot Panzer through the Sudetenland.
Wow, the Defender on that gentle slope sure sure got my schnitzel sizzling
My god, I haven't felt that excited on that needlessly over-driven short track to nowhere, since Gerd Muller scored a hat-trick against Bulgaria.

+1 If anyone has the military 'look' at the top of their list there's simply no beating the grenadier. With a name like that it's no surprise.

I hear the Ardennes edition comes with black crosses on the doors. Just kidding.. lol

With a bit of tweaking the Grenadier could be a world beater.

Hopefully the MK2 will address the issues people have identified with it.

That was brutal

I knew UAZ was always crappy, but gawd, I had no idea what happened to it now (been a while since I saw one in person). It's been basically frozen in a time capsule as far as the design is concerned, and reverted back to stone age where it touches the quality. Just three links (no language skills required, everything is obvious):

QC and assembly - new vehicle with 6km on the odometer
design details
silent test drive. Watch the guy shift after he turns left onto the main road.

And, cherry on top, the door handle presentation:

I sure hope INEOS is at least a tad batter than that

You can set the subtitles to translate to English automatically - but TBH it's not really worth it. This TV show used to be ok about 10 years ago, now it's just a collection of stereotypes and pseudo tests.
Just as info for anyone really interested: the Defender won their 'test'. Although the vehicles were tied after 3 (useless) individual tests - easy climb, tough climb and water crossing - the Defender (supposedly) made the tough climb and the water crossing with less trouble than the Grenadier. And then the Defender was (supposedly) quicker than the Grenadier around a course they had staked out. Worthless, actually.

I was only referring the Grenadier's looks, not the whole vehicle in the UAZ comparison. I really do think it more closely resembles a UAZ than an old Defender with its bug-eyes and weird proportions.

lt's clear that both vehicles excel off road. More capabilities than most owners will ever need, or use.

I think the Grenadier would be better at Overlanding, partially because in third world countries it would likely get a better reception than a new Defender.

A bit like the old Defender, loved the world over.

For primarily road use the Defender is obviously better and in this area the Grenadier is more of a Jeep Wrangler rival really.
