Default Late 2022 P400 delivery...

Hello from Southern California!

Ordered early September for a March 2023 allocation. Luckily the dealer had an open December allocation and they squeezed me in. Worked with a great dealer in So Cal. While many of the dealers were charging a mandatory mark up this dealer opted for a mandatory 7500 accessory buy. At least the % went to something. I opted for the expedition roof rack and the side ladder. Missing from build was the 11.4 in screen, electronic steering column, mud flaps but I received 2 keys.

My only regret is if I should've gotten 22's since this Defender will be seeing more pavement than dirt. Otherwise, the rack might be coming off and possibly be trading 20'2 for 22's.

That’s horrible they made you pay $7500 on top of the car, even if it’s for accessories

Ive called every dealer up and down the coast and all over the us. Some markups are 10-40k for the v8. It’s crazy. Dealers will only deal if you are in their home county.

Yeah cali is really bad, but I did have a Houston Dealer and a PA dealer offer to sell to me last month, and I’m in Ohio. That was with no markup.

Here in Greenville, SC they don’t charge ADM. I had a V8 on order at MSRP, before changing it to the P400. It’s obviously going to be a wait, but no ADM.

I am getting a V8 as well with no ADM. Birmingham, AL

I am sure market has something to do with it and most dealers won’t sell outside of their market.

Agreed…and since ADM is also a dealer choice, I chose Greenville in large part because of their decision to never charge ADM. They are a strictly “MSRP dealer”.

Mine use to have that policy but has been charging ADM or trying. They tried to charge me $10k and I just said that I would pass. Came back and agreed to MSRP.

I still don’t own the truck so it could fall apart. I am super happy with my X so I won’t lose any sleep if it does. Should know this week.

Doesn’t sound like you can go wrong either way. I changed my mind because I was told by one of the service managers that to keep weight down on the V8, the roof was trimmed and that a roof rack wasn’t recommended. I’m not a hardcore off-roader but I also didn’t want a Starbucks rig either, so I went with the 6. The gas milage helps too. Coming from a Raptor, those $100+ pump visits get old and compared to my Raptor, the V8 is worse.

OTOH, the V8 is gonna be worth a lot. Lots of people, including sales people, getting banned or fired for future purchases after being caught for flipping $50-60K over MSRP🤯
