We tow a 6,500lb boat/trailer without issue. One problem is the eyes on the hitch are too small for our safety chains so I bought a pair of the below to use. Have been great.
Oh, I am SO disappointed in myself. I can't find the video/gif where the driver backs his entire Defender into the lake, drops off the boat and drives out.....
It does an AMAZING job pulling 500 pounds! My new project. Pretty good shape. Just need to cut out the trailer bed and weld in another one; sandblast & paint; new bearings and done. Well, I may start a new Quixotic search for a pair of 5x120 hubs... but that may happen down the line. M416 trailer. I think from the '60's. Haven't done the research yet.

You should paint/wrap the Defender to match the trailer. Love it.
Yes, sir! I'm either going to paint it a battleship grey or Rhino/LineX it on one of those colors. It will be tough to match the Hibachi grey because I don't intend to spend too much time filling/bondoing/or doing a lot to the side panels and I think it would make it look worse than it is. Hoping a texture would help. I spent a LOT of time when I restored my Series IIa on the body before I painted it. It was a huge PITA and it still didn't look great. I called it my "55/55" paint job. Looked great going 55mph when you were standing 55 feet away as it passed....
The hard exploration will be to find hubs that match the Defender. Long range plan is to use the same wheels.

No. I meant the towing vehicle.
A defender with this type of finish. I think it would be a perfect match.
