Add me to the list of those getting a “Check engine coolant level”. Came on the other day and when checking, it was between MIN and MAX. Topped it up to the MAX level and was good for two days but the warning is appearing again. Checked the level and it was fine, so I’m guessing it’s the sensor. Has anyone replaced the sensor yet? If so, was it difficult, and if that solved the problem, where is it located? And it figures, after 4 years of flawless ownership and my warranty expired 3 weeks ago, now I have an issue.

You might have a bad sensor. Mine went to the dealer 3 times and finally, they discovered a tiny leak at the water pump.

I think the sensor is integral to the coolant reservoir. So you just replace that. (I could be wrong, and it might vary by engine)

I have the P400, Checked my coolant level this afternoon before starting the engine and heading out. Level was spot on, just where it was when I topped it off two days ago. I actually grabbed the reservoir and gave it a little wiggle, seeing if there would be any settling or change in the level. Went off on some trips around town, but this time no ‘Low coolant’ warnings on the dash. Based on your thought that the sensor is integral to the reservoir, which would make perfect sense, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my minor interaction with the reservoir may have had an effect on the sensor, if that’s where it resides. I’ll be monitoring the dash warning and the coolant level in the reservoir closely in the next several weeks in hopes that it was just a hiccup in the sensor and there is no real issue lurking. BTW, I park it in exactly the same spot in my driveway daily and have not seen a drop of coolant under it. Hoping for the best, after reading of common problems with minor coolant leaks in the hoses and piping in the cooling system.

@WTFChuck If it makes you feel any better about symptoms just clearing up by themselves. (if there is one manufacture that makes me nervous about that it is JLR!) Earlier this summer I checked my coolant level and it was between min/max line. Filled it up, checked in the driveway, and the usual areas near the turbo and I could not see any coolant. Fast forward to today and many miles later the level hasn't budged. I will now go and knock on wood!

Dropping a +1 here on this issue.

2020 P400 - intermittent low coolant warning recently, no visible leaks/puddles and seemingly normal levels when checking the reservoir.

Dealer did a pressure test and ultimately replaced the turbo lines and reservoir. Of course this came along just a few months out of CPO coverage.

For those noting the ridiculousness of these issues - I completely agree but it's the reality. Between my wife and I we have had five LRs over the past eight years and all have had coolant issues.

It's pretty hilarious the owners manual states: "Check the coolant reservoir level at least every week."

I will be monitoring this, thanks for the input.

My 2024 110S just had the low coolant warning come on. The resevoir is just below the Min line. I want to top it off before driving 1.5 hours to the dealer. Is the Orange Prestone DexCool a viable alternative or should I try to track down the Havoline XLC?

Default Cool Running...

Trip to PA for the holidays, from DE it's about 360 miles round trip. Should've been checking coolant levels weekly, apparently , but temperatures dipped and on cold start I was getting the Low Coolant warning.

Just about ran it dry until I got home. Call to my JLR adviser yielded the, "it's common to top it off," response. Confirmed any pressure testing and repair will be covered under warranty, and I guess I will just continue to monitor. I haven't had to top off a vehicle's coolant since... like 1992? I also drove a RR SCV8 for 6 years and never once ran into this issue. There's no visible or scent based signs of a leak.

Anyone use a Gap or OBD II tool to confirm status of a leak, or is it 100% dependent upon the pressure test? Thanks!

Havoline DexCool should be fine, since it is OAT, organic acid technology. I went with Zerex DexCool by Valvoline, most claims refer to the color, orange, as being the compatibility factor when choosing.
