Lucky8 Winch Tray and Factory Skid Plate
Hi All,
I'm deep into installing the Lucky8 winch tray with the factory
skid plate mounting brackets on a 2020 P400 110. I have watched the Lucky8 YouTube videos which make it look super simple and straightforward.
However, there is no way on my rig that the mounting brackets are fitting as cleanly as in the video. I'm about 1/4" shy (so even with all provided shims being used on just one side, it would just maybe close the gap) Also, the angle is a bit off so I have to bend the brackets a few degrees so the plates line up flat to the mounting surfaces. Lastly, the provided holes seem to position way too close to the outside edge of the winch tray, so that I will probably need to drill out a new hole in the bracket closer towards the back, as well as the winch tray itself.
FWIW, I reinstalled the lower bumper cover assembly and then the skid plate (without the support brackets) just to make sure that they were lining up properly - and yes they are.
All of this isn't really a big deal and the minor modifications required (slightly bending the mounting brackets, adding additional shims and drilling out new holes) can easily be accomplished.
My questions are- has anyone else had a similar experience and/or is there anything that anybody did or didn't do that can avoid this?
Thanks!
