Default Maxtrax x Expedition Rack

Newb question here, but can’t seem to sort this out on my own. I’ve looked through some of the prior postings, without luck.

What do I need to buy in order to install my Maxtrax on my expedition rack? I have the trax and I have the mounting pins that come with it.

From what I can tell in other postings, maybe I can get some Thule t-bolts to mount the pins to the rack?

Could use the forums expertise on this!

Matt

I went with Tredpro Pins. I shortened them to clear my garage door more easily. Work nicely. Secure with Thule M6 T-track bolts to the OEM rack

Plenty secure with just one set of these pins.

Works in either direction

I tried a number of options, but for price and quality, these from AliExpress are great in my opinion!

Must admit, I like @GavinC 's route. And without a doubt, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Alibamazon cheap fasteners like @Ludders54 went with. Both would have my thumbs up.

I have the Lucky8 Proud Rhino version (Link). They work for me, but after ripping them completely off the rack when driving into a parking deck (yeah, I forgot...) - I now take them off when not in use. @GavinC and @Ludders54 may have a more parking deck friendly option.

Another alternative is the Lucky8 BA Tents that fits on the tire (Link). I've been thinking of doing the tire platform thing, but I'm not a big fan of too much weight back there. Especially thumping around off-road. The trax would be fine, but I'm debating the weight of the on-top tire platform.

Appreciate all the advice! I think I’ve got a plan.

Question for Gavin C: did you have to move around any of the expedition cross bars, in order to mount north and south?

Yes. I move them around depending on how they're mounted and what else is up there. Ski rack will be going back on in a month or so. I'll be adjusting things again.

Took a bit of tinkering to fit the box and the Traxx as I have a little mod where I can raise the bars for the box. The Traxx are bendy enough to fit over the raised bar.

East-West, I just use two pins
North- South I use three.

Short answer. Yes.
